An artist with a distinct gift for the craft of songwriting, Julianne Buccino is a captivating performer who sings from the heart. She has the ability to deliver with diverse intensity, powerful one moment and intimate the next. Julianne has spent years honing her songwriting and vocal skills, and studied under premiere vocal coach Don Lawrence.
Julianne performs as an acoustic duo with brother-in-law Christopher DeMaria, a musician nearly all his life. The duos stripped-down acoustic arrangements lend an intimacy to their music, often with a strong storytelling element to the lyrics. Their music, a mixture of pop, folk, rock, blues, and country, is visceral and genuine. They have often been compared to other artists such as The Indigo Girls, Jewel and Shawn Colvin.
Together they have written over 200 songs and have performed at such notable venues as The PNC Arts Center, The Bitter End, The Saint, The Crossroads, The Bluebird Cafe', and The Broken Spoke. Julianne and Chris have been featured artists on radio stations WBAI in New York and WRSU in New Jersey. Additionally, this duo has received numerous songwriting awards from organizations such as Billboard Music, Unisong International, and the Canadian Country Music Association, as well as the prestigious selection as The New Folk Festival New Folk Showcase artist.
They were also selected as one of the top 20 songwriters in the Tri-State area to study the craft with Barbara Cloyd and receive feedback from top Nashville Publishers. Additionally, Broadland International artists Girls Nite Out recently recorded their song "One Fine Day." They have also written and produced music for the off-Broadway production of Amarelo and their music has been placed in the feature film Whiteout.
